DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY THAT FEELS LIKE YOUR DAY
Documentary wedding photography means I don’t force moments or interrupt what’s happening. Instead, I anticipate the in between moments. The nervous laughs, the quiet squeezes of hands, the chaos and joy happening all at once.
You won’t spend your day being directed or staged.
You will get images that feel natural, emotional, and deeply personal.
This style is ideal for couples who:
Care more about connection than perfection
Want to enjoy their wedding day without constant instruction
Value emotion, movement, and real memories over trends
Meet Allison Mott
Formerly Allison Cheng, my path into wedding photography began in a fast paced, high pressure environment... gymnastics! I’m a USA Gymnastics Staff Photographer and Chief Photographer of Team Photo, covering more than 60 events each year, including the Olympic Trials in 2020 and 2024.
I’ve worked with Nike, and my photography featuring Simone Biles appeared on the Wheaties Century Collection Gold Box in 2022. Those experiences sharpen my instinct for anticipating fleeting moments, the foundation of my documentary wedding style. Since 2015, I’ve brought that same instinct and emotional awareness to photographing couples on one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
While I am rooted in Andover, CT, I travel across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and the rest of New England to document stories that matter most.My approach is simple: I focus on real moments as they naturally unfold, ensuring you can relive how your day felt, not just how it looked. Whether you're marrying on the coast or in the mountains, I am here to preserve your honest narrative.
What Working With Me Is Like
From inquiry to gallery delivery, my goal is to make this feel easy. Before your wedding, I help you think through timelines, lighting, and logistics. Not to control your day, but to protect space for moments to happen naturally.
On the wedding day, I’m calm, observant, and unobtrusive. I step in only when needed and blend into the background when it matters most. Afterward, you’ll receive a thoughtfully curated gallery that tells the full story of your day, not just the highlights.

Connecticut & New England Wedding Venues I’ve Photographed
I’ve photographed weddings across New England, including the Popponesset Inn (Massachusetts), Bedford Village Inn (New Hampshire), The John Joseph Inn (New York), Stonehurst at Hampton Valley (Connecticut), Tuxis Club (Connecticut), Pond House Café (Connecticut), and more. Each venue is different, but my focus remains the same: honest emotion, meaningful connection, and images that feel timeless.
The first 100 miles of travel are always included in my wedding collections.
